The Vintage Sunburst Mirror Collection

An extensive collection of approximately 70 vintage sunburst mirrors and decorative wall clocks, bringing together more than 65 unique mirrors and four sculptural clocks in a wide variety of forms, sizes and materials.

Defined by their radiating frames, these vintage wall mirrors reinterpret the sun through slender rays, stylised flames, leaves, petals and bold geometric forms. The collection ranges from restrained starburst mirrors with fine metal spokes to expressive sunflower mirrors with layered or moulded frames. Warm finishes in gold, brass, bronze and aged brown create a rich visual dialogue across the complete ensemble.

The pieces were produced in wood, iron and other metals, alongside moulded composition and vintage synthetic materials. Their varied construction reflects the many ways in which the sunburst motif was adapted for decorative interiors throughout the twentieth century. Natural patina, subtle surface wear and gently aged mirror glass preserve the individual history of each object.

Four vintage sunburst wall clocks by Junghans, Orfac, Atlanta and Adelco complement the mirrors. Their radial cases transform functional timepieces into graphic wall sculptures and demonstrate how the same solar motif appeared across both mirrors and clocks.

Sunburst and starburst mirrors became especially popular in mid-century interiors, where their compact reflective centres and expansive frames brought light, movement and architectural interest to a wall. Today, they work equally well as individual statement pieces or arranged together as an eclectic gallery wall.

Presented as one ensemble, this approximately 70-piece collection forms a remarkable visual archive of vintage sunburst, starburst and sunflower design.
