Designed by Sidse Werner and Leif Ålring for Fog & Mørup, the Formland 3 lamp is a distinctive example of Danish design’s experimental approach to color, form, and modern materiality in the 1970s. Fog & Mørup, one of Denmark’s most influential lighting manufacturers, was renowned for its collaborations with designers who blurred the boundaries between industrial design and sculptural expression.
This piece captures that ethos perfectly. Its bold blue lacquered metal base rises into a smooth, continuous curve, supporting a large opaline acrylic dome that emits a soft, ambient glow. The composition balances playful geometry with refined craftsmanship — a characteristic of both Werner’s imaginative design language and Ålring’s technical precision.
The Formland 3 series reflects a period when Fog & Mørup sought to merge expressive form with practical function. The lamp’s minimalist construction and vivid color palette make it equally suited as a statement piece in a modern living room, a pop accent in a creative workspace, or a collectible example of mid-century Nordic design.
Good vintage condition. The acrylic dome shows typical age-related wear, including light surface scratches, subtle discoloration, and small irregularities near the fastening points. The blue lacquered base retains its rich gloss, with only minor edge wear consistent with age and use.
