Danish Architectural 'Blågård' Lamp by Clemmensen & Bo (1960s)
The 'Blågård' pendant is a piece of architectural lighting designed by the Danish architect trio Karen & Ebbe Clemmensen and Jørgen Bo. Originally commissioned for the Blågård Seminarium (a teacher's college in Copenhagen) which they designed between 1962 and 1966. The lamp features a wide, flat cylindrical shade finished in a matte light grey lacquer. The design incorporates a central cylindrical housing and an inner anti-glare ring, ensuring the light source remains hidden from lateral angles while casting a broad, uniform downlight. This construction reflects the architects' focus on functional lighting for educational and public spaces.
Provides a clean, wide-spread light ideal for illuminating large dining tables, meeting rooms, or kitchen islands.
