At AM Antwerp, we take great care in curating and preparing our vintage and second-hand lighting pieces. Due to the unique and often one-of-a-kind nature of our products, our return policy has been thoughtfully developed to balance transparency, customer satisfaction, and the protection of our authentic items.

By purchasing from www.am-antwerp.com, you agree to the terms outlined below.

 

1. Right of Withdrawal (EU Consumer Law Compliance)

 

As a consumer, you have the right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 calendar days after receiving the goods, without stating a reason.

To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must notify us in writing within this period. This can be done via email at info@am-antwerp.com, clearly stating:

• Your name and address

• Order number

• Item(s) you wish to return

• Date of receipt

You may use the standard EU withdrawal form, but this is not mandatory.

 

2. Conditions for Returns

 

Returned items must meet all of the following conditions:

• The item is returned within 14 days of notifying us of your withdrawal.

• The item is in original, undamaged condition, including all components, accessories, packaging, and documentation.

• The item has not been installed, used, modified, or altered in any way.

If these conditions are not met, we reserve the right to reject the return or apply a partial refund.

 

3. Non-Returnable Items

 

The following items are excluded from the right of withdrawal:

• Custom or modified items, including rewired fixtures or installations done at the buyer’s request.

• Gift cards or vouchers.

• Items sold to business customers (B2B transactions), which are not covered by consumer return rights.

 

4. Condition and Authenticity

 

Please note:

• Our products are vintage and/or second-hand. Natural signs of age and use (such as patina, slight wear, or small imperfections) are inherent to the product’s character and do not qualify as defects.

• Product descriptions and photographs on our website aim to reflect condition as accurately as possible. If you need additional images or clarification before purchase, feel free to contact us.

 

5. Transport Damage & Incorrect Deliveries

 

Upon delivery, we strongly advise inspecting the parcel immediately and thoroughly.

 

If an item arrives damaged or incorrect:

• Notify us within 48 hours of receipt via email at info@am-antwerp.com.

• Include clear photos of the packaging, shipping label, and the damage or discrepancy.

• If the damage occurred during shipping, we will initiate a claim with the courier. We may request the item to be returned or additional evidence.

• Customers are advised to inspect the parcel in the presence of the courier, if possible, and note any visible damage before signing for delivery. Signing without objection may affect the validity of a transport damage claim.

 

If the claim is validated, we will:

• Offer a replacement (if available), or

• Issue a full refund.

 

Claims made after 48 hours may be declined.

 

6. Return Shipping

 

Unless the item is faulty or incorrect, return shipping is at the customer’s expense.

• The item must be securely packaged to avoid damage during transit.

• We recommend using an insured and trackable shipping method.

• AM Antwerp is not responsible for returns lost or damaged during transport.

 

All returns must be sent to the address provided in your return instructions. Do not return items without prior confirmation from us.

 

7. Refund Processing

 

Once we receive and inspect the returned item, we will notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.

If approved:

• A full or partial refund (excluding original shipping, if applicable) will be issued to your original payment method.

• Refunds are processed within 7–14 business days of receiving the return.

 

If the returned item is damaged or shows signs of use not originally documented, we reserve the right to reject the return or we may deduct a fee from the refund.

 

8. Business Customers & Trade Purchases

 

Our return policy is applicable only to private consumers under EU law. Business purchases (B2B transactions) are final and not eligible for return unless agreed in writing beforehand.

9. Product Characteristics & Authenticity

 

Our collection consists primarily of vintage, pre-owned, or handmade lighting. Signs of age such as patina, wear, or minor imperfections are part of the character and uniqueness of each piece. These features do not qualify as defects and are not considered valid grounds for return or refund. While we aim to describe and photograph our products accurately, variations in color, texture, or finish may occur depending on screen settings or lighting conditions. By placing an order, you acknowledge and accept these characteristics as part of the product’s nature.

10. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

All transactions conducted through www.am-antwerp.com are subject to Belgian law. In the event of a dispute, only the courts of Antwerp, Belgium, shall have jurisdiction. The application of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) is expressly excluded.

11. Severability

 

If any provision of this return policy is found to be invalid or unenforceable under applicable law, that specific provision shall be deemed severable from the rest of the policy and shall not affect the validity or enforceability of the remaining provisions. In such cases, a legally valid and enforceable provision shall apply that reflects the original intent as closely as possible.

12. Communication and Record Retention

To ensure clear and consistent service, we may retain records of all communication related to purchases, returns, and service requests. This includes emails and other written correspondence. These records are kept securely and may be used for order verification, dispute resolution, or internal quality assurance purposes. By contacting us or submitting a return request, you consent to this practice.
