Large ecclesiastical lantern dating from the Art Deco period, characterized by a synthesis of geometric structure and Gothic Revival motifs, likely produced in Belgium or France between the 1920s and 1940s.
The hexagonal fixture is constructed from a heavy patinated brass frame featuring castellated edges and openwork tracery. The main body encloses frosted glass panels overlaid with stylized metal crosses, ensuring diffused, ambient illumination. The lower apron showcases specific religious iconography, including the IHS and Chi Rho symbols, backed by ruby red and cobalt blue glass inserts that create localized color accents. The lamp is suspended by an original chain system where three support chains merge into a single suspension chain; the total chain length is substantial and fully adjustable to suit the drop height.
Designed for high-ceilinged spaces, this piece serves as a central focal point in a loft, stairwell, or large entrance hall. Good vintage condition. The metalwork shows a natural patina consistent with age and use.
