'Aurora' table lamp designed by Olle Anderson for Boréns in Sweden, originally introduced in 1978. The structural composition is defined by a wide, saucer-like lacquered white metal top shade topped with a matching ventilation disc. Beneath the main reflector, a tiered multi-shade assembly incorporates a perforated metal ring that breaks up direct glare, diffusing a warm, multi-directional glow across the central housing. The entire architectural shade assembly is elevated on a slender chrome-plated tubular column anchored to a weighted, low-profile white lacquered disc base.
Swedish architect and designer Olle Anderson initially trained as an interior architect, bringing a structural, spatial discipline to his iconic lighting designs for Boréns drifts during the late mid-century period.
Effective as a sculptural reading light on a living room side table or as a statement desk lamp.
Good. Small chips to the lacquer finish along the outer rim of the primary shade and edge of the base. Minor pitting to the chrome neck consistent with age. Original pull-cord mechanism is fully functional. Fully rewired.
