Neoclassical Italian Style Alabaster Ewer Table Lamp
Sculptural table lamp functions as both a decorative object and an atmospheric light source. Carved entirely from solid alabaster, the body takes the form of a classical ewer or pitcher, featuring a fluted belly and a handle intricately carved as a stylized fish or mythological dolphin. A subtle brass ring separates the neck from the body, adding a refined metallic detail. When lit, the stone becomes translucent, revealing the natural veining and casting a warm, diffused orange-amber glow.
Alabaster is a soft, translucent stone often mined in Volterra, Italy, or parts of Spain. Unlike marble, alabaster allows light to pass through it, creating a warm, amber glow when illuminated from within. The design draws heavily on Neoclassical and Grand Tour motifs popular in European decorative arts during the mid-20th century.
Ideal for a console table, bookshelf, or bedside cabinet where soft, ambient mood lighting is desired.
Good vintage condition. Alabaster is a natural, soft stone; minor surface marks or natural inclusions in the veining are intrinsic to the material.
