Jo Hammerborg 'Single' Pendant (Color Code 712707), 1960s
Acrylic, Brass, Enameled Metal
25 cm (H) x 48 cm (W) x 48 cm (D)
This is a "Single" pendant lamp designed by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Mørup. It has a deep blue, bell-shaped acrylic plastic shade held by three curved brass arms. The inside of the shade has a white reflector that pushes the light straight down, making it highly effective over a dining table or desk. A white inner reflector plate diffuses the light source, projecting a controlled, atmospheric downward glow while allowing the deep blue exterior to softly radiate ambient color into the space.
Jo Hammerborg (1920–1982) was a pivotal force in Danish mid-century design, serving as the head of design for Fog & Mørup from 1957 until 1980. Under his strict curatorial vision, the manufacturer transformed into a global powerhouse of modernist lighting. The 'Single' pendant is a prime example of his mature work, where he began integrating innovative synthetic materials with classical metalwork, achieving a profound balance between strict geometric form and spatial warmth.
Condition: Very Good. The acrylic and brass components exhibit minor surface marks and an authentic patina that confirms the historical authenticity of the object. Retains original paper manufacturer tag.
